Meet Karen Cunningham
Karen
I manage nutrition for the European Union Group of 'Coca-Cola'. My job is to keep up with new and emerging science through reading new scientific literature, attending scientific conferences and working with academic scientists so that the latest scientific thinking helps us communicate about our existing products, as well as develop new ones. It's great being able to interact with all the different teams at 'Coca-Cola' and I am lucky that my work covers a broad diversity of sciences - both nutritional and behavioural. Before joining 'Coke' I was in the food industry for 12 years as Research Director for the sugar industry, then Nutrition Comms Director. It took a fair amount of education for me to get where I am today. I studied Biochemistry & Physiology at the University of Sheffield, followed by a PhD in gastrointestinal physiology and nutrition at Sheffield's School of Medicine and Dentistry.
I'm kept pretty busy outside of work with my 6 children. I also enjoy running, occasionally from the kids but mostly just to keep fit! I love music too and recently saw the Black Eyed Peas and Jethro Tull. Both gigs were brilliant!
